1) What challenges or issues are there with the core-periphery model?
It is not easy to note the difference between between core and periphery countries, and when countries have transitioned from being a core country to a periphery country or the other way round. Things are always changing
2) Explain how this model helps to understand the distribution of economic and political power in the world today.
Countries that are core countries are more inclied to have the better economic and political power due to the allocation of primary resources needed to grow an economy. In addition, core countries are often more governmentally stable and therefore hold more political power as government is not plagued by corruption

The core & the Periphery
Globilization Explained
The Map to the left illustrates that the core countries can be located in located in North America and in Europe, as well as Australia. It is important to note that not all European countries are core countries, as the map excludes Lithuainia, Latvia and other such countries. The semi periphery are countries in latin America, such as Brazil and Argenita. The real periphery are the countries who are exploited for natural resoruces among others. These countries are mostly in Africa and can be noted as Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo
